Lost Gulch in January is a whole experience—crisp air, crazy good views, and that classic Boulder winter light that makes everything look dramatic in the best way. It ended up being the perfect spot for David to propose to Christine.
I got to the lookout early to tuck myself away and wait for them. The overlook was quiet, just a few people soaking in the views, and the mountains had that soft, hazy winter glow you only get this time of year. Cold, but beautiful.
When David and Christine walked out to the edge, you could tell she thought they were just there for a quick scenic stop. David kept it cool, waited for the right moment, and then dropped to one knee with the whole Front Range behind them. Christine’s reaction was instant and so sweet—pure shock, then the biggest smile, then a yes. Easily one of those moments you feel lucky to witness.
After the proposal, we wandered around the rocks taking photos with the sun dipping behind the peaks. These two were laughing nonstop, totally unfazed by the cold, and you could tell they were still riding the adrenaline of the moment. Such an easy, fun couple to photograph.
Lost Gulch always delivers, but add a surprise proposal and it becomes magic.
If you’re planning to propose in Boulder (or anywhere in Colorado), reach out—I’d love to help make it happen.
